What is SMP?
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-invasive hair loss treatment where a proprietary formula of pigment is applied into the dermal epidermal junction of the scalp creating small dots the size of hair follicles. These micro impressions are designed to replicate the appearance of natural hair. This treatment can enhance an existing hair restoration or provide an alternative to individuals who want a non-surgical treatment. SMP is suitable for all types of hair loss for men and women.
About the SMP treatment:
While the process does use a procedure similar to tattooing, it’s important to note these two methods are very different. SMP requires the skill of a specifically trained SMP practitioner and SMP equipments. The high-quality SMP pigments used at Stein Medical are not only dermatologically and microbiologically tested but also hypoallergenic. The initial treatment package generally consists of 2-5 sessions. Each session takes about 1 to 4 hours, depending on factors such as skin type, the amount of hair loss, and the size of the area being treated.
Who can benefit from SMP?
•Men and women wanting the appearance of added hair density
•People with shaved heads that desire hairline definition
•Those who want to camouflage burns, scars or birthmarks
•Non-candidates for hair transplantation
